About

2014 April 13 - 16.29.52.58I’m just your average good ‘ole boy from the hills of Southwest Virginia. I live in a little old coal town that has became all but a ghost town and a mere shell of it’s once glorious past.

I love the outdoors, woodworking, photography, cookin’, building websites and of course blogging.

I’m a single dad with two sons, one 24 and the other 4 Β (I must have had a mid-life crisis) and I wouldn’t trade ’em for nothin’.

I take care of my elderly mom who has Vascular Dementia. That’s a job in and of itself right there.

Other than that, there’s not much more to tell about me.

If you would like to, you can follow me on facebook and twitter. I would appreciate it so much πŸ™‚Β

OK, I didn’t realize you were in SW VA! My ex lives there and my son spends all his free time from school in the mountains (more now that he’s done with school, probably). So, hi!

Thank you and it’s nice to meet you too. Yeah, it’s extremely difficult on so many levels. I’m afraid that it’s going to get to that point with my mom too and I really don’t want to have to do that, but if it will be better for her then I’ll have to.

Yes, it was the hardest decision I ever made, but she could no longer live in her apartment and we could not afford a full-time home health aide. To have her live with me and my husband would have required us to re-do the house – make it wheelchair friendly–and also hire a nurse or aide to be with her while we work. You’ll know what to do if/when it’s necessary.

Right now I have everything set up so that a bath aide comes in 3 times a week and a nurse once a week and I’m trying to get in home aide too. I should be hearing something from that just any time.
