The Deed Is Done

Ok, it’s done, I finally got the stupid yard mowed. It ain’t trimmed yet but by golly it’s mowed. It was 88 degrees at 10:00 am this mornin’ and I was still drinkin’ my coffee, I don’t rush the mornin’ ritual, I savor every little drop of the nectar of the gods, cause who knows, that one drop you miss might be the one to get you through the rest of the day without killin’ somebody.

As you already well know, I absolutely hate to mow, unless I’m sittin’ on a ridin’ lawnmower, preferably with a nice cold drink in the cup holder, if said mower has a cup holder. Alas, that is not my fate. No dear readers, my fate is to walk behind a mower, or huff and puff behind a mower is more accurate, while fightin’ the mower on a hillside, which has already been stated that that’s all my yard is.

Also stated is the fact that I’m no skinny minnie, I’m a well filled out 48 year old, I don’t have a six pack, I got a keg. But ya know what they say, more cushion the better pushin’, (ok, that was a bit overboard, but you get the idea). It don’t take much to get me winded and sweatin’ like a mule, which brings up, do mules really sweat? I’ve never actually seen that happen and I’ve been around mules.

So put all that together and you get the idea that I’m not a happy camper when it comes to havin’ to mow the yard. I’d rather fight a bear (not really, bears will kill ya) than to mow this yard. Why don’t I hire some poor teenager to do it? Well, not only am I overweight and horribly outta shape, but I’m also money deficit. I’m not sure money deficit makes any sense but I’m goin’ with it.

I would go outside and take a picture of my hillside (Yard) but I’m too lazy, I just got through fixin’ tacos for supper and now I’m really worn out. Pitiful ain’t I? I have said for some time now that a good, hard days work would kill me, if there is such a thing as a good hard days work. That’s one of those old sayin’s that just don’t make that much sense to me, although I use it all the time.

Well, there you have it, my adventure for the day. Now all I gotta do is weedeat (trim) the yard and it’ll be all done, but I think that can wait a day or three.

Thanks for readin’.

Tim

My own husband finally sauntered out to our little yard and gave it a good mowing this evening. He hates to mow too, he won’t let me or our daughters do. He says it’s a man’s job, plus he’s afraid we’ll get hurt on the embankments. My youngest has been begging to do it for years. You’d think he’d give in, as much as he doesn’t like it!–after all, I give in and let him do the dishes every once in a while! 🙂
Glad you got it done. We’re having quite a nice little heat wave, aren’t we?
