Why I Blog – The Hillbilly Version

I’ve seen a lot of these posts floatin’ around WordPress the last few days. Some of them are thought provoking, some are more personal and some are on the more flippant side of things.

The blogosphere is full of all different personalities and writin’ styles and habits. Some people blog multiple times a day (guilty as charged), others will post once a week. I love encounterin’ all the different types of people, opinions and outlooks on life.

I would be lyin’ if I told you that other blogs didn’t somewhat influence my own, to a certain degree anyway. Don’t misinterpret that statement, my blog is my own, it is written in my own words and thoughts, with my own emotions and inflections.

So to the question of why I blog. In a nutshell:

1. I enjoy it.

2. I like to share experiences.

3. I enjoy the community that bloggin’ brings.

4. It’s therapeutic.

5. It’s an emotional outlet that I don’t otherwise have.

6. I like to write (even if I ain’t very good at it)

7. It’s an escape.

8. I like the notion that other people are readin’ my stuff and enjoyin’ it.

I’m sure there are more reasons, I just can’t think of them right now, I have a four year old askin’ fifty bluemillion questions and then wants to know why to each and every answer. Apparently I’m the smartest hillbilly in the history of hillbilly’s.

I don’t blog for the approval of others, I have my own opinions and beliefs and I hope that others respect that, just like I respect theirs.

So there you have it, why this hillbilly blogs. Well, part of it anyway, I’ll get to the rest of it later, when my brain can function at a higher, above four year old capacity.
