Fatboy’s Recipes

AboutWell, I have been working on my updated recipe blog for a few days and I think I like it better than any recipe blog I’ve made so far.

Fatboy’s Recipes is officially open for business. I’ll be adding more recipes every day or so. The number of recipes are growing rapidly so make sure to follow the blog.

There is a Follow Button that will work just like the follow button on your .com blog and will show up in your reader when I add a new post(s). There’s also an Email Follow option and a Newsletter Subscription, which I will use periodically for any blog design update or announcements.

I also have a Contact Page where you can send me your own recipes or just to tell me something.

Keep in mind though, when I start adding recipes, I add quite a few at a time. The reason I told you that is because I don’t want you to fuss at me for filling up your Reader. I don’t like to be fussed at.

So, if you like to cook and trying new things then stop by and check it out!

Thanks so much!

Guess What?

After posting my last post, I went researching. What I found out was the fact that I was right about recipe blogs/web sites.

So, in my infinite hillbilly wisdom, I have decided to open a dedicated web site for recipes. I’m going to gather all of the recipes I already have on the other two recipe blogs I started and put them all on the new one and go from there.

In fact, I’ve already started it. I’m working on the blog/site locally on my computer and once my new domain propagates I’ll migrate it from local hosting to the web hosting.

It still gonna be called FatBoy’s Recipes but I am completely redoing the whole thing from the base code up. It’s gonna have a brand new structure and I’m trying my best to make it as interactive as possible instead of having just a static site that people go to, look at and then leave.

I’m gonna network the crap out of it and call on a couple of my friends here to help out with getting it out there.

I want this new venture to be a success. I’m basically putting everything I have into it and using all the knowledge I have gained over the last few years of building blogs, web sites and blogging in general.

If it goes as planned, it’s gonna be a fun journey. One that I hope my followers here will join me on. After all, who doesn’t like recipes?

People Are Addicted To Food

This blog just turned into a toddler, yep, that’s right. The Hillbilly Blogger is two years old as of yesterday, and what a journey it has been.

What does that have to do with the title of this post? Well, I’m gonna tell ya.

During these last two years, since I opened this blog, I have created somewhere around 20 other blogs, most were all on different topics and all but two of them failed miserably.

Of those two, both were recipe blogs, one made what I consider a hit. And that’s what this post is about.

For some reason, a recipe or food blog is extremely popular among the masses, especially if you promote it correctly. My very first recipe blog is about 4 years old now but I don’t administer it anymore, but it still get upwards of 30-40 hits a day. I know that’s not a lot compared to, say, A Good Blog Is Hard To Find, but to me, it’s pretty impressive.

Of the newer recipe blogs, the two I mentioned earlier, the one that has performed the best gets 10-20 views a day.

Compare those with this blog, which I’m lucky to get 10 views a week on, and I have to sit and ask myself why I don’t keep up the recipe blogs more? It’s a no-brainer really because people are addicted to food and a large portion of the online population is out there looking and searching for recipes.

One of the issues I have with the recipe blogs is the fact that, although they are getting a lot of views, there is no feedback, other than complaints and a few questions about measurements or substituting one thing for another.

I like interaction, I like it when someone reads one of my posts and responds to it, even with negativity. I don’t have a social life in the real world due to the situation with mom, so I crave social interaction here.

Maybe if I posted more often and followed more blogs, instead of going off half-cocked and creating a new, and fairly useless blog, I would get more readers, followers, and interaction. Perhaps taking the newest recipe blog and giving it a facelift, do some house cleaning, and giving it more attention, I might get more interaction if I do it right.

After all, like I said earlier, People Are Addicted To Food.

Fat Boy’s Recipes

My recipe blog, Fat Boy’s Recipes, is coming along really well. I’ve added a couple more things to it for reader interaction and a few more recipes today.

I’ve gotten quite a few views on it as well and I expect many more when I get some more recipes on it. For some reason, I can’t get any followers though and I can’t figure that one out. It’s like my old recipe blog, I got hundreds of hits and views on it but very few followers. If anyone has any suggestions on that, I would be happy to hear ’em.

Oh, and if anybody has any really good recipes ya wanna share, head on over there and use the Contact page to send it. I will add it and give you credit for it, even a link back to your blog.

So anyway, that’s about it. I gotta go to bed now, medicine is kicking in pretty good.

Thanks for readin’.

Special Announcement From The Hillbilly

For all you folks that love to eat and/or cook, I am in the process of reviving my recipe blog. On it are real, down home southern recipes, many of which I have made myself.

Why revive it? Well, it has been the most active blog with the most hits I have ever had. However, when I was maintaining it regularly, I really didn’t understand what I was doin’, now I do and I plan on makin’ it much better than it already was.

If ya wanna be one of the first to jump on the bandwagon, you can go like my new Facebook page, Hillbilly’s Country Kitchen. I’ll be keepin’ you up to date on my progress there and you’ll be among the first to know when I open the new site, which is gonna be awesome if ya ask me. I’ve got lots of plans for it already.

So there ya have it, my news for the day. I hope to see y’all on Facebook soon!
